In the movie the Alamo some the Texas Troops had a hat not to far off in looks.

If you like that type of hat it could work for you. If 1824 era is OK.
If you haven't had a chance to watch that movie its a good one (Dennis Quaid & Billy Bob Thornton)

I have not seen that movie but I would bet a dollar that the hat they were wearing a Mechanics Cap or a wheel cap. They are the smae hat just a different name for them. That style of hat was quite popular from the 1820's until the mid 1870's.
I have apainted one that I wear while doing an 1850's mechanics impression.

judging from paintings from the time period I believe the whole shirt tucked or un tucked was a personal preference sorta thing . and I`d have to say the same about revolutionary war or even french and indian war period ! lot of the time what you see is a frock or hunters shirt , the shirt worn under it ,being your everyday linen or wool shirt could and very likely was worn either way ! and the hat is period correct !

Which type of hat? a greek fishermans hat or a wheel cap?
His pants also had belt loops
People should not base thier historical impression on what was seen in a movie.
