With my old traditions Hawken. HAvent shot that rifle in 7 years. Punched the bore with a cleaning patch, snapped off two caps. Loaded it with 60 grains of pyrodex, and no, dont get to yellin at me about the pyro, black powder is 75 miles due east and I am poor, so I hada use the pyro. Anyways, had a target out at 25 yards just for starters.
1st round was low and to the left, which is ok cuz its always done that.
2nd round was dead on, which is how it used to shoot.
3rd round was covering the 2nd
4th round was cutting the top of the 3rd round.
Since it hasnt changed in those years I thought maybeso try it out some ways. So I picked out a nice deer head sized rock at about 80 paces, leaned on a tree trunk and touched it off. As luck, cuz it sure aint skill, would have it the rock busted all the heck and went to smoke. I is happy with it. I am gettin this rifle ready to loan to Big Iron, owner of the Bone Yard, where we is gatherin for Novembers hunt. I have a feeling he'll be joining us on the hunt.

sound like a lil' bit o neglectin the poor thing hasn't hurt it non....

don' ya know all rifles need ta be fired at least once a week ta keep em happy!

Mine are all made at me!  Haven't fired one since march..  it really stinks not having a place to shoot !!

I fixed me a 100 yard range right out back.  So I can shoot anytime I want.  I am in the middle of about 368 acres, a half mile back in the woods. so I don't bother no one but the critters. It was raining a little Saturday so I just shot off the back porch.  I been thinking about putting me a feeder at the end of the lane and let it double as a deer stand.

Check your local laws... I know that in some states you have to be X number of feet from a "Habitable" dwelling... my cabin in Wisconsin fit the description... and it did'nt have runnin water or nuthin...

Texas dont have that law cept in the cities.

Wisconsin has a lot of crazy laws that no other state has!

Washington's weird on the laws too. They even protect grounghogs from trapping.

Used ta be back in olde MerryLande that ye had a be 75 yd. minimum from a habitable building.

I don't know of any law in Carolina but I'll check.  Besides, I am a little over a half of mile back in the woods off a dirt road and about a mile and half to a paved  road.  So  there is not much chance anybody is going to complain. The wife sorta frowns at shooting off the porch so I probably won't do that much anyway.  The way I see it, it is my land and house and I got enough sense not to shoot towards my house so leave me alone.   But like you said we have some crazy laws in this world!
