After 18 years of buying used beater / fix-er-upper T/C Hawkens which all served me very well, I finally bought my first ever new Flintlock, a .58cal Early Virginia...so right now its my favorite, LOL.

You could almost make a coffee table book out of all these pictures of great rifles.  I know I just like to scroll through the photos you guys post and enjoy.  :applause:

Here's what I shoot.  TC renegade .54 cal.
I had a flintlock in the past, but it was the cheapest traditions rifle made.  Plastic stock and all.  Traded it for a CVA .50 cap lock.  I had a heck of a time getting it to shoot well.  Part of it was the gun I think, part of it was me not knowing what I was doing with load, ball size, patch choice. Part of it was probably the long time from flash to bang.  I have since learned that there are many factors that go into the time from pan charge going off to main charge going off.  If I had that rifle now I would do a little investigative work to see If I could improve the performance.  When I watch impossible shots and see the shooting that he does with a flintlock, plus notice the lock time of his flintlock, I know that I have to get another one and try tray again.  Saving the money and trying to learn a bit before I make the jump again.  Planning on spending quite a bit more than last time.  TVM and Pedersoli are at the top of my list right now, with thoughts of October country.  Wife probably won't like the price of an OC gun though!  Going to be at least a .54 since I want to hunt elk with a patched ball with it.
Favorite guns though, to be honest I will probably try shooting an elk with the TC next year and a deer with the '84 trapdoor.

here ya go voy ,hope this is some help ,dang thing wont let me post more than one pic ,so I`m doing a close up of the lock ,if`n you need other shots let me know !

Hanshi

Hey, Sharps!  TVM will fix you right up with a fine .54 of your choosing.  Their custom guns are scarcely more than an oc one.  Good luck.  hntr

Hanshi;
I look over TVM's web site most days.   I've learned enough in my years to learn a bit more before I pick up my next one.  I'm going to do the same thing as I did before I spent much money on my first custom longbow.  I'm going to go where others are shooting what I want and shoot, listen and learn!

beowulf

thats about the best way to go about it ! no disappointment that way !

Hanshi

Yep!  The thrill of a "deal" wears thin as regret takes set!

Couldn't be more pleased with my Virginia...bought my own components, specified my stock dimensions to TVM, fits to a Tee, accurate as can be, and easy on the eyes...Matt Avance did a great job for me !

The photo helped alot. The lock is similar but is alot fancier than the one on mine. Thinking Im gonna hafta find a way to post pics of it on here and see if anyone can help shed some light on this thing as it is a total mystery.
