Pre lubed patches

Somewhere in the past 35 or so years I read about a method of prelubing patches that left them almost dry to the touch.  It consisted of taking a small stack of patches and lubing them with a liquid or semi liquid lube, say olive oil,
then putting the stack between two boards in a vise or clamp and squeezing them under some pressure for several hours.  This squeezed the excess lube out and caused the lube to be spread evenly thought the stack of patches.
Has anyone ever heard of or tried this system?  If so what were the results?

Yes... I've read that also.  Not sure just where though.  I'll do a little looking in my favorites.

I've done mine that way before. it worked but was time consuming.
Now I bulk cut my own (round)and take about 50 at a time, put them in chinese takeout sauce containers or altoid tinsand dribble olive oil on them and let them sit a day or two. not over oiled and any excesssqueezes out when starting the ball!

I couldn't find where I had saved the article about clamping patches to pre-lube them.  However I was able to search for the article.  Here's the addy to it.
