Just got 2lbs. of fffG Elephant powder for $40.00 w/ shipping. Was this a good deal? If not good for hunting loads, would it be okay for practice and plinking? I've used Swiss and Goex but never Elephant brand. Curious minds want to know. And no, I won't send to someone to take it off my hands.
I could use it to get rid of a couple of stumps.

if it works , it`s a good deal ! I`ve seen single one pound cans with higher prices in the few places it`s available in my area !

I have read 2 main complaints about Elephant powder but have no 1st-hand knowledge. The 2 complaints are it's very dirty and it is underpowered.
Whether these complaints are valid or not, I have no idea.

Seems like a great deal to me.  In the mid 90's I bought a pound of Elephant 4f off a friend. It burnt ok in the flash pan if you only put a very tiny amount in it. Too much in the pan and it packed up while walking. When it would pack I would sometimes get slight hagnfires.  i ended giving most of it to another friend. So fine it reminded me of baking soda but black.

Sounds like a good deal to me. I don't have any experience with it but that is a great price if it goes bang thmbsup

I used a lot of it when it was readily available and it worked fine for me. The 3f was at least as good as GOEX and I heard that the 2f was a little slower and a little dirtier but I rarely shoot 2f so I don't know for sure. If I won a can of Elephant today I wouldn't hesitate to use it because I used to win matches with it regularly.

Is Swiss better? Probably, but I haven't used it.
Is GOEX or Shuetzen better? Maybe and Maybe not.

I never had a problem with any of them.

A few years ago I won an old can of GOI powder and found it to be a little hotter than Goex but it still shot fine after I adjusted the load slightly.

Got a few health problems right now that keep me from doing much for fun. That and graduations. Our grandson graduated From Indiana University of PA the beginning of May, Summa Cum Laude w/2 majors and a minor in computer science, gets his brains from his dad. Where his dad got them from, I'm not sure. It sure wasn't his mother or me. His sister graduates from Indiana High School in Indiana, PA the first weekend in June.
So far this month, I've had 4 doctor's appointments and a CAT scan and an MRI and I'm waiting to hear from my orthopedist. I did tear the quadricep on my right thigh. Next week I've got to do a follow up w/my cardiologist about my Aortic Stenosis and possible blood flow problem to my brain (I think I still have one. Although being on here I'm not too sure. Anything they want to do is got to be done for the start of early muzzleloader season in the middle of October. Already have a VRBO rented so my wife and I can stay there. She plans on cooking, shopping and visiting friends, and I plan on shooting a couple of deer. I'm going to take the .54 cal. CVA Big Bore "Mountain Rifle" I built from parts bought on Ebay.    hntr
