Has anyone here ever used a backaction lock in building a gun?  If so is there anything that needs to be watched for or any tips that you can share?

I will soon be starting a 12 ga full stock with a back action percussion lock and have never used this type of lock before so any help will definitely be appreciated.

Could ya do a build-along and do some pics?

You are going to have to be a bit more specific, there are about 1000 ways to mess up a build and almost as many ways to do it right. I've used back action locks on many of my builds. The type of breech plug they get mated to and the style of stock they are set in determine the major things to watch out for. I'm gonna guess you are probably planning to use an L & R. If so the first thing you want to do is completely tune the lock.
The next best advice I can give is do all your layout on paper, make sure you get your geometry right before you start messing with wood and metal.
And the last piece of advice I can give is don't be afraid to reshape the bolster area to get a seamless fit to the breech metal.
Other than that without knowing exactly what you are working with it's hard to say what to look out for.

Cowboy I am using a lock from an original double barrel shotgun.

RB I am considering doing a build along with pictures, I'll let you know before I start.

Ned has used at least one cause I used to own it.  It was a little half stock .45.  They are very versatile little locks.
