I haven't seen a Backwoodsman magazine lately but I've read a few and enjoyed them.

As far as the gas prices they have dropped significantly in my area. A little competetion (mini gas war) has helped that.

They came down here and bottomed last friday at $3.85 then up up and away.   Back to$4.08 today....no reason other than record profits for oil co. and RR,

$3.43/gal. here but I can't get diesel for my tractor for less than $4.52/gal. for off-road fuel.

Damn, the off road price has sure climbed.... I remember 16 cents a gallon as a kid...  of course that was 56 yrs ago.....

Price has dropped way down back in my native Georgia.  But up here in Maine it's only nudged down a very modest amount.

Back to the original topic:

20 or so years ago, Charlie Ritchie needed money for some project and sold lifetime subscriptions for $250 andi bought one.  Lately I have been thinking of telling Charlie Jr. that I have passed away.  The magazine had been changing anyway before his dad died, as Red Meineke wrote in a letter to the editor, and it doesn't really hold my attention anymore.

I haven't seen a real post lately.

Off topic but!  The cure for our basic problem is above in the altered version of flintboomer's first few posted words.
