I acquired a TC Renegade stock for little $. Bought a GM drop in .54 barrel, an L&R RPL flintlock and a replacement Hawken trigger guard from the Hawken Shop. Browned all metal parts, plugged sight screw holes, cut a dove tail and installed semi buckhorn sight.  Then  stripped the stock and applied several coats of Tung Oil.  Will decide on a shape and add a pewter nose cap in the future.  I will leave the TC butt plate as it has my initials on it👍.

Be sure and show us some pics of Rocklock!  thmbsup

Great job Bubba!
You just took a T/C colleƧtable, probably worth $1000. or more, and made it worth $300.
Great job!

beowulf

looks good ! the old tc and cva rifles do lend themselves to modifications and alterations ! and that beavertail cheek piece is period correct , they`ve been used since the early 18`th century !

Rustibob, there ARE NO TC Collectibles, none, zero. If it was worth $1000 I have 7 more for you. The fact is, they are worth about $250. They used to be worth a bit more, $350, but since their "lifetime" warrantee is no longer being honored, I can't give the things away, NOBODY wants them.

beowulf

in my area ,the hawkens are going for around $300, renegades about  $50 more , the cherokee right around $400 and senecas go for between $400 and $500 ! a good older cva mountain rifle can fetch $450 or better !  gun prices seem to be a territorial thing !

I have been schooled! I thought that big old cheek piece was wrong, but Beowulf is indeed correct. The antique plains rifle I am (hopefully soon) going to repair for a local museum has that same wide cheek piece. I hate it when I'm wrong.
I did pick up a very early vintage .54 T/C Hawken off Gunbrokers a few months back for $199 and gave it to a friend. I thought I stole it but lately they have been going for under $300. However, if you want to buy parts from the cannibals on Ebay, you will pay that much just for a stock & lock. A good barrel, you're looking at $400 plus. Go figure.
I am the one your mom warned you about!

Uh..."Can't give them away"?  I hereby offer my services as a resting place for any that, AHEM, you can't otherwise "give away".  I like "give aways".  hntr

Put me down on the gift list. I don't particularly like T/C's (Too heavy, not a fan of the snail, don't really like the cut of the stocks, among other things) but I always have space in the safe or on the wall or even at the range for a beefy front loader. And Christmas is almost here, hint, hint.   santa

beowulf is correct  thmbsup   You cant touch a nice one around central Indiana or Ohio anymore for less than $400.00...   hdslp   For any of the hawkens or renegades.. pnic pnic  And some of the best shooters in my Muzzle loading Club are using them in competition...    But it is true 10 to 15 years ago I could and did  thmbsup get nice ones in pawnshops for $75.00 to $100.00 and well handled and hunted ones with a good barrel went for $50.00 or less  [hmm] But those days are long gone now.  Seems like all of The side locks were getting Pawned and or Traded for the Newer In-lines back then... I think people found out they made a mistake trading them off [hmm]  Or perhaps a bit newer group of hunters and shooters has discovered how good they can and will shoot?!?  hntr hntr
