Some people should not own firearms, ever.

Santa granted me my Christmas wish! A visit from the acerbic, irascible, lupine like, master BP builder of the heart of the Midwest, our favorite mongrel, well, Mr. Mongrel! So glad to see your words here. Hope everything is going well for you and yours.
I am the one your mom warned you about!

Things are well but very hectic, which is why I'm seldom here. Who woulda thunk that, armed with sufficient money and credit rating to cause even bank loan managers to genuflect, finding and buying a piece of property to build a house on would be so complicated? Please do NOT derail this thread by responding to that -- it's just an observation to explain why my time is still not my own, most often.

As to Hanshi's most recent observation, in regard to new strains of idiots -- I propose scientific research into the possibility that a new and very definitely UNimproved sub-species of the human race has evolved (or devolved would be a better way to put it), and is slowly but surely outnumbering and overwhelming the rest of us. Since so many of the members of this strain obviously have no other occupation than to reproduce and be annoying in their dim-witted, oblivious way, it stands to reason they will overcome the rest of us, like a blobby, two-legged form of super-parasite. I propose they be called "Homo WalMartus" after their primary area to gather and socialize.

It is a common practice in my area, for locals to buy a used rifle at a pawn shop, use it during Muzzleloading season, and then sell it back to the pawnshop, sometimes unfired, always not cleaned. Disgusting.

Well, this will be my first post after a rather long hiatus. I just had to toss my two cents in on this topic.

A friend of mine is a local gunsmith here in "Little Rhody". A few years back he proudly showed me a neat little (2" diameter) hole in his cinder block, workshop wall. He was more than happy to tell the story of how he chewed out his "Stupid" customer after having had quite a surprise while working on his CVA Hawken. It seems that the the surface metal around the drum of the barrel was so badly pitted that the best option (in his mind) was to remove the drum and grind away some of the surface of the barrels flats prior to draw filing and rebluing the barrel.  After a few seconds of making the inevitable sparks fly...Yup, you guessed it... BOOM!!!!! My "Gunsmith" friend went on to ask,

"Can you believe that!? What %&*#@% IDIOT!!! Brings me a *&#$@@&* LOADED GUN!!!!"

I smiled an politely agreed all the while thinking to myself...

"You're supposed to be the gunsmith. You should've known better."

Thankfully no-one was standing beside him when that .50 cal slug launched across his shop. What a disaster that would've been.
