Hey y'all
I work at historic Fort York in Canada. I'm in the Drum Corps but we also perform artillery demonstrations.
Only just the other day, I found out that our six pounder has a barrel sleeve that turns it into a three pounder.
I feel kinda ripped off by this, but it still belches smoke and flame when I fire it so I suppose it's good enough for the tourists (to see of course, not to use against :P)
Our 6oz powder charges are pretty loud, I think we'd be breaking some eardrums if we used the full period correct 24 ounces.
Did I mention this is in the middle of down town Toronto, surrounded by condos? I love my summer job!  thmbsup

I can't think of a better place to rattle windows than downtown Toronto except Seattle.Nice looking cannon and reenactors.Whoever put the liner in likely had safety in mind and to limit the loads to window rattling size rather than window shattering.Looks like Fort York has been improved greatly since I was there.I was born in Toronto long ago,my folks lived in Clarkson,a place thats now lost in the area between Toronto and Hamilton.

You must lead a charmed life.  Getting to make noise and get paid for it.   I am envious.

(My cousin was a chemist-quality control officer for an explosives company.  He tested the explosives all day in a 100 acre quarry.  He claimed it was pretty boring after a while."

Yeah the Fort kinda had a dark age after an accident that left an employee with a few less fingers. Now we are a lot more strict with black powder. They used to pull pranks in the 70s. eg They put a few grains of powder in the ashtray of the smoking area, so when a guard member extinguished the butt, the ashes would go *poof*
Thanks guys, I count my lucky stars that I am able to do this kind of stuff.  ;D
