Straw Tricorn hat?  I  went to a thrift store and they had a bunch of gardening straw hats.  They had white, natural, Brown and Pink???   4 inch crown and 4 3/8 brim ...I was wondering if it would make a good summer hat..  The wool felt black hat I usually use is Hot!   Summer events around these parts have Temperature's in the 100's and high 90's with humidity to match pnic
I picked up some  brown ribbon and a pewter button and made a cockade....And the hat folded up to make a nice Tricorn.  thmbsup
[hmm].  But Did they use straw hats and would it be OK to use for Reenacting??

In-keeping withe the TMOTC tradition....  the hat was $4.50 the ribbon cost .25 cents and the button was free I found it in a tin filled with old buttons my wife's grandmother left her....

I'm not into period-correct clothing etc. but that is a nice looking creation.

What practical purpose does a tricorn hat serve? It seems that it would be more functional if left as is. More shade and less leaves etc. collecting on a wide brimmed hat.

Nice job on the hat. I might have to look in to getting one. It has to be cooler. My felt hat is also hot to wear in the summer.
