Until I get my new hardsole moccasins, is there a way to make my softsole's useable on pointy rocks? That's pretty much what I have to walk on here in the California Sierras. Beautiful country but hard on the feet...you've probably all heard of the saying "the agony of de-feet?"  ;D

Groan!  ;D  Good one Ned.  I'm looking forward to what is suggested.  I've got some soft soled knee highs coming.

FrankG

How about some of the DR Scholls gel insoles. Shoe goo could be layered on the soles.

Then you'll be JELLIN instead of Yellin  ;D  ;D  ;D

Buy a scrap of heavy veg tan bull hide(sorry Roaring bull it just has to be this way) and trace around your foot and then slip it inside the moc like an in sole, you can even glue it in if you don't want it sliding around, try to look for the thickest piece you can find 1/4" or so thick, it will provide a lot of protection for your soles.

Jerry, that's tacky!

Have you ever tried the DR Scholls Frank? How well do they work?

Ned

Cowboy, would using that thick a piece of leather stiffen the mocs up too much for good grip?

Ned

Ranger

Do what Cowboy said. It won't stiffen them up too much to make them slip any more than they already do.

FrankG

I use them in all my shoes , well the WalMart brand is what I use and they save the feets. Ya dont get bruised heels any longer.

Dryball

Okay, but have you tried them in mocs? It's the instep of my feet that hurt...my heels are so callused that nails dont penetrate.

I've done it to a couple pairs of mocs and after a little bit of wear they form to your feet and you never know they are in their except you don't feel the rocks much.

Sounds like you need some arch supports in them if you have high arches.

SwampHunter

Do what the Crow did, Line them with goose or duck down covered with elk hide. (Just don't let the local Game Warden see em)  ;)

I cheat and use my Good Feet store custom fit insole plastic things. they are awesome! I wear em in my moccs, and I have walked a couple of parades, miles of trail and lots of rocks. I also stuff rabbit fur in my moccs in the winter, works great.
