Those old Ithacas are some of the closest copies of original Hawkens ever to come out of a factory.

Given the difference in price, I'd buy a GPR in a heartbeat before I'd spend close to twice that much on this Traditions. I'm pretty hardcore on wanting my rifles traditional, but for the price difference the GPR is real close. In fact, looking at pictures of the GPR laid next to one of Jake and Sam's originals, I have to look hard to spot obvious differences (especially if the GPR has been fitted with plain fixed sights). To each his own, but when half the differences between the original and the copy are subtle enough they have to be pointed out and explained before I pick up on them -- people are pickin' nits. Bottom line is, the GPR is a lot closer to being a "Hawken" than at least three brands of rifle that actually are called Hawkens, and I've never heard or read an unhappy word from the owner of one.
