Not much going on work wise the last week or so and to keep boredom away (not to mention the honey do list that is a mile long. I am still the crown prince of procrastination) I moseyed on down to my brother in laws shop and dumpster dived in his scrap metal bin. Here are the results.

#1 is 13" by 1 7/8" by 1/4" stainless that will have to be whittled on down a bit.
#2 is 11 1/4" by 1 5/8" by 1/8" galvanized steel from a window cutout on a metal door. The scales are about 4 wraps of pillow ticking over epoxy and coated with beeswax.
#3 is 10 1/2" long by 1 3/8" by a little over 1/8" and was cut out of a broken "wonder bar" pry bar.
#4 was an old cold steel cheap throwing knife that broke in the middle of the grip section. Welded it up and ground off the finger grips. Comes in at 9" by 1 1/2" by 3/16". Both #3 & $4 have brass scales the were from another cutout of a metal door. This time I tempered all of these, using my high tech, 25 year old gas Weber. They all throw well albeit with different characteristics.
Total investment for materials? Zip, zilch, nada.
I am the one your mom warned you about!

A man after my own heart. Most of the things I make are from scrap. You did a fine job, they look like you will have a lot of fun with them.

I found your post today because today I started a project and thought that I could pick up an idea or two. Mine is a very simple project that I basically  need to find something for the handle/scales.
I really like the recycle idea. I am replacing the scales and cleaning up a kitchen knife that I had long ago purchased to make it, hopefully, something a little bit better.
Thank you for the photo and the encouragement to keep at this beginner's project.
