Feel a little silly posting this but I'm going to start attending rendezvous (what the heck's the plural of that word) and wondering if this would work for the 1820 to 1835 RMFT? The pants are walnut dyed painter pants that I'll replace with fall front pants down the road and the rifle might be a little later but what about your overall impression? The medicine bag doesn't do much for me but it's perfect fit for a pair of collapsible reading glasses I need. Might not be HC but either is cutting my finger off trimming the fat off of a steak because I can't see. Thanks.

Hopefully we will get to share some tall tails and good story's.

Your outfit looks pretty good and I like how the coloration of your trousers is slightly darker than your shirt using the walnut dye. As you have already noticed, the walnut powder doesn't give a uniform color and if you don't agitate the item in the dye bath you can end up with almost a tie dye effect.
At any rate, on your next shirt have it cut a little longer, halfway between your knee and hip joint. Other than that very minor detail I think you're off to a good start. When it comes time to get a vest there are things to consider depending on your time period, if indeed you make one part of your clothing. First is the length, which gets shorter as time goes by. The next is the collar, starting with none whatsoever to standing, rolled and horse collar. Resist the temptation to get anything "western" as this is a later time period than the RMFT.  Your choice of materials for your clothing can be a point of contention for those who strictly scrutinize such things but if cotton is all you can afford and it's cut correctly for your time period and fits you then enjoy yourself. Normally the folks at rendezvous' are easy going and not concerned with it. I can tell you from experience that cotton is a poor choice in even mild temperatures if there's a chance of getting wet. Linen and wool are far better with the latter being best.

Thanks for the tips. The shirt's from Crazy Crow so I had no say so in the length but did in material. I'll research more for my next one. What I want to stay way from is that whole "I took ya for an Injun" look. I'm a pilgrim, an old pilgrim but a pilgrim just the same, so want to try to look the part. I even had a hard time buying moccasins. I thought brogans would be more appropriate so I broke down and got both. Probably for the best since I don't know how well the moccasins alone would work with my feet. 25 years on a truck dock does strange and unpleasant things to mans body.

Looks pretty good. You'ld fit in any one i've ever been to.  thmbsup

It looks real good to me and most often the tread counters won't say much unless you agitate them

Ya look fine! As far as the Mocc's go, I put Dr Scholl's inserts and carbon fiber supports in all my Mocc's. Unless it's juried or an AMM event, you'll do fine.

From what I can see your outfit is fit to ride the river... Don't see a hawk though.
One other thing I'll mention in passing - how wide is that belt?  If it is between 2 - 4 inches it is ok.  I see nothin wrong with the pants that a home made shirt of the proper lengh wonn't hide - ( I still have a pair of painters pants in my kit for rainy days!

Looking real good for just starting.....I got real lucky with my grandson at the Winter Nationals, he wanted period correct. Yeah, right.....28x36 pants aren't the easiest to find..well, third day out came a trader with a pair of pants he was warning everybody away from acct. they just can't fit...darned skinny long, drop front, wool, 28x36's anyhow. wouldn't sell so marked down to $10.  talk about grabbing them quick.. Made a happy camper out of that kid...of course, his taking my best mocs, a period correct hand me down shirt, hawk, knife, rifle home didn't hurt.  Trouble is , he out shot me with my own pistol. Couldn't get him to stop smiling....
Just keep improving a little at a time as you can..never know when YOU will luck into that great deal...
