Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers, may God bless you for doing so.

We went to meet the surgeon today and have scheduled the surgery for December 9th.  He is going to remove her entire thyroid gland along with any superficial lymph nodes that show distinct signs of the cancer having spread to but he won't "go digging around"; his exact words so at least he has a sense of humor, which was comforting.  We won't know if the nodule is benign or malignant until two days after the operation but she will still have a body scan a week or so later to determine if the cancer has spread to other parts of her body.  Thyroid cancer cells love iodine and they will inject an iodine marker dye that will collect anywhere there is remaining thyroid cells.  Seeing some in the thyroid bed is normal but anywhere else is not.  It will be a waiting game until that happens so I can think of no better Christmas present than an "all clear" report from the radiologist.
