There have been 76 tickets sold through me, to a total of 14 people. I think via a Shoot and a benefit that were both held on the 16th, more have been sold locally, but I haven't talked to the ladies coordinating this in a couple of weeks so I'm not really sure.

The drawing takes place tomorrow....

I've been dealing with two very nice ladies from the Legion and we were going to meet there as soon as my Saturday mail had arrived (in case of a last entry or two). Unfortunately a funeral intervened and one couldn't be present. So -- tomorrow at noon.

I will announce the winner and total ticket sales as soon as I get back. Good luck and many thanks to all who participated.

Well, I ended up selling 76 tickets, for a total of $320. As for what was sold locally, at a combination of two benefits, at least one Shoot, and I guess people peddling tickets to co-workers and family members and such -- no one compiled a final count. 500 tickets in the form of five tickets to a standard sheet of copy paper, hand-numbered, were printed out, and I would guesstimate (I helped separate and fold the individual tickets when we met this afternoon) that the local efforts sold at least three times as many as my on-line total -- and there were unsold tickets -- so somewhere between roughly 300 and less than 500 tickets were sold.

Like I said at the start, the two ladies organizing this were amateurs trying to do a good thing, so their disorganization so far as final ticket count is to be forgiven.

The winning ticket had Aaron's name on it. I noticed as I folded tickets that a fair number had been filled out with Aaron's name, by different persons, and I know that one of my supervisors at work bought two tickets in Aaron's name. Good people around here.

Aaron and his wife were there this afternoon -- first time I'd ever met the guy. He's doing well and eager to be back to work, as soon as he can get released by the doctors. He got a little emotional as this latest sum of money was presented to him and his wife, and was tickled to have a new gun to play with. He commented he wouldn't be hunting with it, that it was too pretty, but I firmly said, "No, it's not, and yes, you WILL. It's what I built it for." Hopefully he'll abide by that and make meat with the thing.

So that's that. Many thanks to those who contributed. Aaron strikes me as a happy-go-lucky sort of guy, but a couple of times I could see worry cross his wife's face. What was done for them will be a big help and, again, is hugely appreciated by all concerned.

A worthy cause and Aaron can pay some bills as well as rehab in the woods while toting around a fine muzzle loader.
