Well, I did it.  I tried to resist, but in spite of telling myself repeatedly that there was no good reason I should buy the Traditions percussion blunderbuss kit, I took the plunge and ordered one.  Just looks so darn cute.  It also looks to be ineffective as a hunting weapon and is decidedly non-PC/HC, but also looks to be a hoot to shoot!  This will be a test of my kit-building skills as I have no talent in this area.  Hopefully, there will be no real work required beyond a final sanding and finishing of the stock and bolting everything together. Who knows, maybe it will account for a squirrel or two!

Cool project.  My dad has been wanting me to make one of these too.  lol

I have one of the old Dixie Gunworks ".24 caliber" ones that are actually .54 caliber. That big bell looks cool but makes it hard to hit anything smaller than a refrigerator with a ball and the shotload is too small to be effective on much of anything.
I pull it out and shoot it about once every 5 years.

I will do that, but be warned I am a great procrastinator! I received the kit in record time from Sportsman's Guide and was pleasantly surprised to see that the brass buttplate is already installed.  I will say that the kit is packed really well in styrofoam and seems like it would be impossible to damage in shipment unless the UPS van ran over it.

Be careful what you wish for..........    pnic  I have seen several rifles that even though remarkable packaged the Delivery services (all of them) have managed to mangle mutilate and almost destroy before the reach their destination....
