I sure can. It is Pecatonic River... called the guy tis morning. He said that they are sold out right now but to give him a call in 3 weeks they should have a shipment in.... think I am going to go with the 36 cal. Drop in since I will have a choice..what do you guys think? Is a 36 cal. small enough for squirrel gun? ??? Which would be better 36 or 32 cal.?

Red Badger

.36 is good enough fer squirrel and other small game.  .32 is great but getting hard to find

I more .. how about the 40 cal.? What size game is it good for?

Watauga

I don't know about game but they are real good at taking prizes and money at the Club Shoots I go to. thmbsup
(Green Mountain Drop in's .40cal in T/C stocks.)32-36 inch  I am not sure on the length on them. [hmm]

The 40 is a little big for squirrels and rabbits, but useable for them and a little small for deer but useable if you are careful. It is a great target and plinking size that I really like.

I was referring to the shoot 'em in the middle bunch.  blah  If you know how to load and where to aim you can go bigger or smaller if legal where you are hunting.

Big bore works fine on little critters if you load right and know where to aim. One friend of mine says the perfect grouse load is 120 gr 2f and a patched .535 ball. You had better hit the head or neck of a grouse with that load, but if an elk steps out while you are aiming at the grouse you won't have to pass up the shot at the elk.  hntr

I STILL don't get this squirrel hunting thing. ???

That is the reason I do alot of my hunting with a 62 cal smooth bore. I can all ways drop a ball on top of the shot.

If the barrels Pecatonica is advertising are Green Mountains, don't be a bit surprised if it turns out they CAN'T get them. Green Mountain has quit making muzzleloading barrels, at least according to several different suppliers I am either friends with, or do business with, or both. On Green Mountain's website they are showing most of their muzzleloading options as being "temporarily out of stock" and that may be what they told your source at Pecatonica, but every one of the suppliers I referred to (Stonewall Creek Outfitters, the branch of TVM owned by Randy Heil, Muzzleloader Builder's Supply) are making arrangements with other barrel makers -- something they would not do in regard to an established product like Green Mountain barrels, if they didn't know for a certainty that when the present supply is gone, it's gone for good.

Incidentally, just in case there might be any misunderstanding as to what I might be implying -- Pecatonica River is one of the vendors on the same row with me, at the NMLRA Friendship Shoots, and I'm very well-acquainted with the owner, Dick Greensides. If he (or one of his people) told you they would have the drop-in barrels in stock in a few weeks, they told you the truth as they honestly believe it to be. Green Mountain may in fact have some of the drop-ins left and have every intention of shipping some to Pecatonica. However, I want to make it plain that, if it turns out Pecatonica CAN'T get you the barrel they said they could, they didn't lie to you. They told you the truth based on what information they had at the time you asked. Things are changing drastically in the area of barrels for muzzleloaders, and there are going to be some disappointed customers and possibly serious misunderstandings till it's all sorted out and everyone has had time to figure out what to do next.

And those of us who shoot GM barrels or dropins will be glad we got them when we did!

I checked GM's sight and they still have a few 7/8 barrels, but that is all. The market is bigger for other things so they go where the money is. Maybe they will make another run of muzzleloder barrels sometime soon and maybe they won't.
