hntr Well  the TMOTC page on facebook is still up for now,but facebook is killing a lot of gun pages. There have been several muzzleloading pages deleted just overnight last night.

I realize Facebook's value for promotion (as well as for self-indulgence carried to the extremes of ridiculous) and I suppose I have no problem with anyone who finds the site tolerable to utilize, but for me it's the cyber-version of a very large room crowded with complete strangers who (simply playing the odds) share few if any of my likes, dislikes, or concerns. Add in that registering as a gun-oriented site or individual equates to shouting "I'm a gun owner!" in that same crowded room, with the predictable result -- no, thanks.

And there has been commentary on the internet, today, to the effect that Facebook is shutting down firearms-related accounts in response to yet another mass shooting. As with my refusal to utilize eBay or PayPal after their similar response to the Virginia Tech shootings, some years ago -- piss on them, there is nothing I value so much in life, be it money, publicity, or simply attention, that is worth any form of association with people who are outspokenly and fundamentally opposed to so much I believe in. I stand for certain things and am not willing to measure how MUCH I stand for them according to what I might gain by setting my principles aside.

I also place much blame on Facebook for the ridiculous and, to me, highly offensive over-use of the terms "friend" and "like" between people who have never met. In my bitter experience, when the chips are down most such "friends" won't lift a finger or speak a word to support those they purportedly like so damned much.

I found it to be as you say, Mike.  I cringe at some things I've read on FB.  I rarely go there, myself.

think I know whats behind shutting many of the groups down , there have been a few very shady characters haunting the sites , quite a few people have been screwed over in deals . everyone knows who the culprits are , and had facebook delete their accounts , unfortunatelt theives dont give up that easily , so they just open another account under a different name and email address ! one site I think may have been shut down over racist remarks aimed at a man from india ! I`ve done a deal or two on facebook , with no problems , but then I track the person down that I`m dealing with . ......nice to know where to send the cops ! :mini-devil-28492:

Facebook is shutting down pages that have firearm sales - they do not differentiate between black powder and modern firearms.  We are safe because we do not trade or sell on facebook.  I put the page up because Voyager and a couple of others who used to be here lost internet or moved into nursing homes and had to surrender their computers but could still get to facebook on phones or site laptops... I even had a problem at school trying to log into the site until I used a trick with one of my instructors oking our site as a "valid research site for discussions of historical research into early American History"    cuch  I dunno if any of the staff other that this professor looked at the site but I can now log in when at school if I get a minute...

I`m a member on 22 different muzzle loading related pages , and all are still up and running ! this one is for buying ,selling , and trading flintlocks and accouterments for flintlocks . https://www.facebook.com/groups/543820799115183/

I wouldn't "log in" like they require so I didn't see your site.
