Here's a photo of me dressed as a Seneca Indian woman from the French and Indian war period. As early as that was - 1760 or so, the Indians had given up on wearing leather garments, since it was so much easier (and warmer) to wear European style clothing. Wool retains warmth when wet.

(Kind of hard to find The Welsh and  West Welsh "Cornish" are the forgotten Celtic Clans?!?)
