I can't define THE THING that got me interested in shooting BP. I have always been interested in all kinds of weaponry. I guess, like the rest of my interests, it was just a natural progression. Maybe it's the idea that not everybody is doing it. There are many days at the range when I am the only one shooting BP. Kind of nice shooting groups with my .54 equilly good as those guys with the black rifles, which by the way I may buy since I don't have one. Something in 6.5 Grendel maybe.

Better get one soon.
That 6.5 does look interesting, but flint or percussion, what do you think.  ???

Searching all the usual places for the 6.5.   All of my BP long guns are perc. I think I need to expand my horizons and get a rock lock.

I believe that flintlocks generally cure whatever happens to be ailing a person.

anything 44 caliber and larger can cure whatever is ailing!!!! I got started in blackpowder around 1997, it allowed me to hunt an extra 2 weeks here in Louisiana so I borrowed a friend of mines on weekend and shot it to sight it in , and went the next day and bought me one of my own , I killed 3 deer with it the same weekend and have been hooked ever since!!!

When I retired form the Army  in 93 we bought the place we are living at now. The old doublewide  had a fireplace in it, and I thought I would like to hang an old muzzleloader on the mantel. I found an old  45 cal kit gun  and hung it up and it stayed there for about a year until one night I was watching a late movie called "The Big Sky". I got to wondering  what it would be like to shoot,  HELL-O  I wonder how you even load it
I got with a friend about it and he sent me to a man they call Ugly, he looked it over and said was safe to shoot, took me out and got me started and I was hooked. Now  I shoot ever thing from cap an ball all the way back to a match lock
