Big locks make big showers of sparks. That's why I like 'em. Plus I love the early guns and in that context the larger Siler lock is medium-sized at best.

For anyone who might be interested (a question about red stain was raised elsewhere on the forum), the stain used here is Old Towne's Lancaster Red Brown. Old Towne products are carried by Muzzleloader Builder's Supply out in Idaho. The Laurel Mountain Forge stains are also very good but Old Towne is my go-to brand. Both OT and LMF are alcohol-based finishes, very easy and forgiving to work with (though you will need nitrile gloves as they dissolve both vinyl and latex and will stain your hands at the slightest contact). Tung or linseed oil over the top of one of these stains deepens and enriches the final finish and is easily touched up if you start acquiring more dings and scratches than you care for.

The red color really makes the furniture look Great and the wood seems to capture the Shine/Glow from the Brass!
