Well I just got my new wall tent (used), and it does not have a stove jack in it. I live and Michigan and can use a wood stove darn near all year sometimes just to take the chill off. Where should i put the stove jack at? I'm thinking of putting it on the back door. Putting a 45 elbow right on the stove and going through the back door. Or is it better to go straight out the roof? My thoughts are if i go out the back of the tent i won't have to worry as much about the embers and creosole landing on my roof. Tell me your thoughts. Thanks.

I am not sure about the placement of a stove as decision was made by the tent maker.
There is one strong suggestion that I will make and that is make sure that you use a stove cap that has a spark arrester in it

If you go out through the back, you will need to have some form of insulating plate for the pipe to go through as well as a support for the pipe. Either way you will want a spark arrestor as it will save you alot of headaches. It would be easier to go through the top as that can be straight up rather than angling out through the back.

I had a stove pipe fitting put in my pyramid cost me 20 bucks for sewing and probably about 30 for the piece.  then you want a flap on it also to allow you to close it when not using the pipe

I would put it in the back door. I have had wall tents with the roof araingment as well and they tend to leak liberally in a good rain. Like someone else said too, use a double walled insulated pipe to go thru the canvas, no matter thru the roof or wall.

I would put it in front on either the left or right so it leaves you space for storage or sleeping in the back.  Be sure to leave enough space around the stove to operate safely.

"STOVE AREA REQUIREMENTS IN A TENT: You must plan on a stove taking up to 7 feet along a wall in your tent. There is an automatic 2 + feet standoff from the front wall due to the stove jack location. The stove itself is normally around 2 feet in length. There is normally a 3 feet heat standoff distance from the stove before you can place a cot or table."
