I bought a Traditions Kentucky Rifle in .50 Caliber Percussion. (Used) I got it home and had to use a torque wrench to get the nipple out. Finally had that out and moved on to cleaning the bore. I thought that I had found some type of wildlife living near the breach of the barrel as when the cotton cloth brass jag hit bottom something grabbed it and I had to wrestle with it until my heart rate reached some where in the 120 bpm rate. Well I said, I have run into rust and powder build up on used guns before, but somehow I was sure that a tiny but yet very strong critter of some type, was grabbing my jag. Sure enough though, after an investigation on the rifle, it turns out that the previous owner used triple 7 and a plastic sabot type round in a "Kentucky Rifle" !!! must of thought it was related to an in-liner I quess. After $14 worth of cotton patches and bore wash, bore oil, boiling soapy water, a brass brush and a cuttin torch, no not a cuttin torch (that was just a passing fantasy) I finally got the bore clean and shinny. She shoots nice and I have promised this poor thing that it will be fed only black powder and PRB's. (I love happy endings) What some people do to muzzleloaders is amazing! Society has laws to protect people from brutalizing each other, laws to protect various animals from being treated cruelly, but the traditional muzzleloading Rifle, Shot Gun & Pistol only has us traditionalist to protect it from those in society, that are so sick, that they are willing to inflict damage and neglect to one of man's most beautiful creations....the traditional muzzleloader.  :'(
