Life does tend to get in the way of things! Think I'll go up to the barn and shoot now! thmbsup

If the rain finally takes a break of more than just one day and the wind dies down to below 70 MPH, I'll be at the range.

I've been busy deer hunting, I took 3 this year. One nice 8 and two descent does. Buck and early doe was with crossbow due to my shoulder surgery, normally I hunt with bow. The other doe was with an unmentionable. I have a nice powder horn project I've been working on and another in the wing. I've also been busy with a new project, a Jackie brown Fowler that was sposed to be done and ready... not a chance, lock had a gap away from barrel, wood was clunky and not formed correctly, to my eye it looked like a blocky clunker. I've slimmed it down significantly and am going to go after it some more when time allows. My wife gave me the green light to order a kibler woodsrunner, or colonial... I'm not sure which way I'll go. The woodsrunner has a 6 month wait, colonial is immediate. Woods runner is lighter and has a shorter barrel, colonial is heavier and has almost a 44 " inch barrel. I'm not sure even how to order either.. and when I do get it, don't want to put it together myself? Or pay to have it carved and engraved and put together?I'll get all that figured out when the time comes... I've also been working my regular job. When I'm home I'm  trying to dodge the frigid winter cold, my workshop isn't the easiest to heat, it's a 30x 40 with 12 foot ceilings.. anyhow, That's a glimpse into my life as well...

My workshop is in the basement which is very roomy but you'd be surprised how quickly it can get filled.  A lot of my "stuff" never made it up here when we moved and I hate that.  Even had to leave most of my deer antlers back in Va.  And all my powders, brass and other equipment are still down there with a friend who holds it all for me until I can arrange a way to get it up here.  I did order a good amount of black so I can still shoot.  But - you guessed it - Much lead and a few pounds of black are also down there waiting for me.  All my smokeless is down there.

Of the two Kiblers you mention I like the Woodsrunner.  A bit shorter, lighter and still available in .54, it fits my idea of the perfect rifle.  But I'll never get one because of $$ and the fact that I no longer go hunting.  Still shoot but just don't hunt now.  The fire and stamina seem to have left me due to my disabilities.  I already have more MLs than I can reasonably shoot so I can't complain.  Take care of yourself.

I will post, but you may not want to hear what I am going to say...

1.  Life has lost all meaning for me.  People are moving on fast and I am stuck spinning my wheels.  I have no energy or ambition anymore for the things that Di and I had in common...

2. The Muscogee War Memorial Park is my entire focus right now... Hopefully I can get it going and profitable so they can hire a real curator... I am tired of being a Don Quixote tilting at windmills and chasing pipe dreams.

3. The year is almost up and I am still trying to figure out what to do with a lot of the "material Wealth" Di and I accumulated in Rendezvous and life actions...   The Phones are hit an miss now that ATT shut down the local cell tower so don't even bother to reply by calling me...

I want to wish all of you here A Happy new year... This one is been a bad one for the group but we are still here

That's the way to get it done Campbellclan! I also took two with a crossbow and one with with a modern thing I assembled. Seemed the weather was always terrible during my opportunities with a muzzleloader.  The Woodsrunner is my favorite so far of the Kibler options. I would think that it will be a nice handling rifle for hunting.

Thanks! I did order the Woodsrunner in a 54 cal. I ordered in plain maple, also Katherine mentioned the fact that should have the option of ordering a " second" I told her which ever comes first. She stated that may be possible that the wait time will be shorter due to my plain maple choice. She said everyone wants fancy or extra fancy... we shall see!

I do really like the Woodsrunner and would love one in .54.  But I have no need for one, I got everything covered already.  I have a "sort of" Woodsrunner in .50 with fancy wood.  In truth it is more of a Frankenrifle.  With a 38" "B" wgt. barrel and a Chambers Golden Age flint lock it weighs only 7 lbs 2 oz.  That's only oz heavier than my .45 lightweight which is barely 7 lbs.  My SMR X 38" X .36 caliber is just a tad over 6 lbs.
THE .36 SMR.

The .50 Frankenrifle (stand-in for the Woodsrunner).
