The stock showing the chip and it's now glued back in place. Seems pretty sturdy too but again, there are no structural concerns for where the chip is.

Some more sanding with fine grit should do it.

No such luck unfortunately. But this made me think that maybe he's got some scrap pieces  he could send me so I can test the various finishes that I've gathered.
