I never wear the black dress before it gets dark, too much skin shows through the lace and it is always getting caught in the brambles! I wear the sundress during the day.   ROFL
I am the one your mom warned you about!

I am beginning to wonder if hanging old with old guys is such a good idea and what stuff they  really do know.   hdslp

Hang with them and you will be amazed at what you will learn. Up until two years ago when my best dog blew a knee and they closed the last pheasant club within 110 miles, for years I took "old guys" out pheasant hunting. (Side note to the boss, I know I am about to talk about hunting with non-muzzleloading shotguns for the most part, but I did use a percussion cap shotgun the last two years I did this. Not every time, but I did use it so I hope I don't get any demerits for this little essay. Besides. this is addressing the "old guys" comment of which you now are one.) When I say old guys, I mean the age range was 78 to 88 years old. I even had a 90 year old that didn't hunt, but walked the field with us. I did this at least twice a month from September to March for 10 years or so. Over the years we are talking at least 40 different guys that I took out to the fields. Almost every one was a combat vet from WWII, Korea, and various other worldwide skirmishes. All I would do was ask them a guided question or two and just kick back and listen to the stories. And what amazing stories they were, no drama, no exaggeration (well almost none) just the matter of fact narrative of life in the middle of the century.  And they had no trouble following my hunting rules:

1, Do not shoot my dogs.
2, Do not shoot me.
3, If you absolutely have to shoot at us, shoot me instead of the dogs because they will not understand.

I am happy to report that although I have been shot 4 times by idiots with shotguns, it was never by a member of my group. These guys for the most part were walking testimonies to firearm safety. We had a couple that were a bit sketchy and always made them walk in front, so we never had any problems, outside of an occasional senior wandering off from time to time. But the dogs always brought them back.
So yeah, hang with old guys whenever you can, they do know stuff and if you are paying attention, you will learn stuff..

Since you brought it up, my Grandson got his first pheasant this weekend. With one shot! I'll post a picture as soon as I get it transferred.
