I have been building a lot less than I originally intended for several reasons but mostly because I have basically got everything built that I want. This is my latest scratch build, a swamped barreled rifle. It is a rather plain hunting rifle using a 42 in.  Colerain "A" weight 45 cal. barrel, Davis set triggers (my first), a wood patch box with a small hunter's star inlet in the lid (also my first hunter's star). The first photo shows the day I started this build by hand inleting the swamped barrel with chisel and mallet at my mentor's shop. The other photos just highlight the patch box inlet. Everything else is basically the same as my previous builds

William I don't think my Peggy Lee would like it, so I think I'll go with Toby ....after Tobias Woods who was mentioned in Allen W. Eckert's "The Frontiersmen", who knows...may have been a relative.  ROFL

thmbsup That's a fine rifle, for sure.  The Lancaster styles are my favorite.
Young guys should hang out with old guys; old guys know stuff.
