Can pictures be posted with out the use of a 3rd party?

Thanks,

USCSURVEYOR

I post them right from my computer pictures. Down below the box you type in it says "Additional Options". Open that and it will let you "Attach". Click "Browse" and it will open a window that allows you to access the pictures on your computer. Single click the picture you want and click "Open". This will attach the picture to your post. There ARE file size limitations, so you may have to "Resize" the pictures or make multiple posts to get all of them. It's pretty easy once you get the hang of it.

Thanks!  Worked.  I posted a picture of a possibles bag my neighbor made for me from a thrift store leather skirt along with a powder horn my daughter found at a yard sale for $5.

I still use photobucket and just post a link to the picture... just remember that using third party sites, you have to keep the link intact and public or members will not be able to see it.  For me this means I cannot reorganize the folders in photobucket or it will break the links to the pictures.

Now that Photobucket has decided to mess up a good thing, any suggestions from any computer savvy folks out there in "On the Cheap" land as to the best way to approach this? For some reason the pictures I have are so large that by the time I reduce them to the size required to post, they look like grainy postage stamps.
I am the one your mom warned you about!

I have always posted right from MY PICTURES on my computer. I have never had to go through a 3rd party like PhotoBucket, not even sure what that is. I sometimes have to play with the size, but MOST of the pictures I take with my phone only need to be reduced by 25% or so. I might have to post several times to get all the pictures uploaded, but no other problems.

If you have Windows, use "Paint" and this will allow you to reduce the photo size to an acceptable level. I just reduce them to 20% of the original.

I managed to post the correct photos on my profile and it took try after try.  I can occasionally get a photo or two to post but some of them will not post even as thumbnails.  This is not a simple thing to do.  I also have some problems with other sites as well.  We need "user friendly" instead of "user surly".  chrrs

And, OH!  I finally got the most recent photo of me to replace gunny's fine picture.

The way i understand it is that, if you post directly from your computer to this site, the photo takes up space on the server which will eventually run out of room and need to be upgraded, or posts deleted.  However, if you use a hosting service the photo resides there so it isn't taking up space on this site's server.  Clear as mud?

And Hanshi, I didn't know you were such a handsome and debonair YOUNG man!  blah

You are correct that when we post pictures it eats up space on the server but until we can find a good reliable 3rd party site I would encourage everyone to post pictures they need to the site.  We do have a 1024 kilo byte size limitation so make sure to shrink your pictures enough (I think that may be  part of Hanshi's issue... He hates to shrink anything...)....
