Have a .44 marlin rifle barrel and would like to cut it down to make a pair of flint pistols. the bore is worn but should spin a PRB nicely. i`ll have to fill a couple of dovetail slots, and i have the right guy to turn the barrels to the desired profile and to make the breech plugs. has anyone done this here? by my measurements the pistols will have to be smaller and delicate looking, but with a .44 rifled punch, they should hit hard. any thoughts? my only real concern is if the barrel at the halfway point on the rifle is a s strong as the chamber end.

i will be taking pics of the whole process, and posting them, but not as a work in progress. i`m not sure how fast the project will advance. once the barrels get done and i finish the locks, i think the process will speed up.
