Fowling Gun F/S

This is a 10 gauge x 42" percussion fowling gun. I don't know but I'd guess it's got some Brown Bess parts. The barrel appears to be BB & the trigger guard does, too. The trigger guard has been shortened & mounted backwards. There is a wooden under-rib (chestnut?) with 2 thimbles of which one is missing. Brass entry pipe & a flat sheet brass butt plate. There is some engraving on the top of the barrel I can't make out, what appears to be "XVII" roughly scratched on the bottom of barrel & the lock is marked "HAPGOOD". Stocked in American walnut.
