Well, I've been hemming and hawing about building me up a flintlock or buying one for some time now.  I have finally settled on what I'm going to build and feel pretty good about it.  I went and visited the actual kit seller and was pleasantly surprised.  The name of the company is Sitting Fox Muzzle loading and his location is about 1 hour east of me.  Don't know if anyone else has purchased kits through him, but it seems like a good overall value.  I'm also going to do a pistol variant:

Any feedback would be appreciated and hopefully I don't screw these up!   pnic

What I've seen of Sitting Fox products is great. The fusil-de-chasse is a good first project -- simple lines and construction.

I'm assuming from the tone of your post that this is your first build, or that at least you haven't done many. If you run into trouble or have questions, right here is one of the best places to find answers and solutions and people eager to help.

Good luck and keep us posted on how it's coming!

Yes, it'll be my first traditional firearm build.  The colonial pistol I have was from my Grandfather and it was a kit purchased for him by my Dad.  I was young, but helped some on it and I really liked the way he antiqued it.  I intend to do the metal with Laural Mountain Forge brown and to try to distress the wood slightly as he had done on the colonial.  ;)  I have to finish coming up with the moula, but otherwise I'm pretty set to do the build.  I am buying the stocks pre-inletted for this first build anyway since I don't have a lot of wood working tools either.  Appreciate the feedback too.  ;)

This is my Colonial .45

Yah, his house is for sale.  He's moving to FLA on the 18th, but will be summering over on Pretty Lake on the west side of the state.  He seemed like a good guy.  Hoping I can come up with the bones for this.  The bean counters keep shaving down our bonus chances now.   (susp)  I'm located in MTP.  8)
