a friend on another forum is lookin' for a chunk of flint to try makin' his own flints for a t/c. any help appreciated.

tried that my ownself years ago. the flint ya find here in the mountains of s.w.va don't spark worth a hoot. not even much good for arrowheads evidently as most of the ones i've found are made of somethin' that looks about like limestone(plenty of that around here) or feldspar. but thanks for the effort.

I have a chunk of grayish flint about the size of a fist. If you'll pay the postage I'll send it to you. I buy my gun flints already knapped and I know exactly zilch about the stuff in its raw form, but if you want to chance this lump being good you're welcome to it. I got it from a now-deceased friend who had some skill as a flintknapper and seemed to think this was a good piece if I were ever inclined to try learning the art. I'm not -- might as well pass it along to someone who is.
