Walnut husks for stain

Never tried it but I am sure it can.  Allmost anything can be used for dye, including nuts, berries, onion skins, bark, etc.  And as far as buckeye nuts, they are not usless....were a main source of food by the local Indian tribes in the foot hills around these parts.  But the trick is they had to be leached like acorns do....full of tannic acid.  They are poisonous not leached. They were leached, dried, then ground to make a mush kind of like cream of wheat or grits.
