Actually the sight picture with a post and a blade is basically the same sight picture.  Just a difference in the configuration of the two.

That's the way I see it. One be skinny one be fat, both be flat..

all i'll say is you need a big target for post, where as blade is as versitile as the shooter

Ironwood

Post come in all different thicknesses just as do blades.  I'm sorry if my photo is misleading.

Da Backwoodsman

wel not your photo ironwood, but i tried squirrel hunting with a .40 longrifle that had a thicker type post and it was extremely hard for me to get a head shot, but i did well with it on paper targets, i might just be used to my cheaper cva brass blade sights

Ironwood

Oh I understand what you are saying Backwoodsman.  I think that's why TC's big ol' thick front post sight didn't go over to well.

Da Backwoodsman

a little of topic but what rifle is that in your siggy?

Ironwood

Backwoodsman,  That's a 50 caliber 1-66 twist Traditions Springfield Hawken.  I bought it second hand. The lady I bought it from said her husband never fired it.  I think Cabelas is selling them for $269.00.  I don't recommend buying one.  The barrel is bent very sightly and Traditions hasn't responded to two e-mails..  >:(
