I want to make a bag. But not sure how to sew very good. I have tons of canvas, 45 different kinds of needles, and upholstery thread. So what ever kinda sewing will have to be done by hand.

Have a look and the leatherworking , you can sew the canvas the same . I would sew it inside out and reverse afterword. Just omit the awl punching part.

Yep that's what I do.  Doubles are a lot easier to make out of canvas than out of leather.

There is one thing this old man learned to do before starting and that is to
make a pattern out of paper grocery bags.
I do this because it seems I never have much if any extra materials to spare, and I all the parts laid out so I don't forget some thing
Just the way I do it
All gave some Some gave all

Thanks Old Salt I'll try that. I'm putting together a binder with all kinds of patterns, and info regaurding muzzel loading. So I can referance it quicker when I'm gone from the house wich is most of the time. So any info anyone has I would be very greatful for it.
