This gun was built by Brad Randall of Hernando, MS. I haven't shot it yet but the trigger has a sweet let off. I'll post some pics of the targets later. I have to cast some round balls for it.

Is the nose cap made of horn?

Yes it is. The one on the gun is the third try by the maker. The first two tries had seperation in the horn material.

A guy without a smoothbore is like.....well, a guy stuck with only rifles, I guess.

Very nice!  After seeing all the pictures I'd like some more info if you have the time.  Who made the barrel, how much does she weigh and what type of wood is the stock made of?  The finish is excellent I might add!

The barrel was made by Dehass. Oddly enough, it is a .57 bore instead of a .58 bore. Brad and I talked about this after I discovered it. I had a .55 diameter ball mold so "no harm, no foul". A .562 round ball and a patch won't go down the barrel. It could be shot bare ball but I haven't done so yet. The gun is pushing eight pounds and the wood is walnut. The stock blank came from Matt Avance at TVM in Natchez Mississippi. Life has prevented me from shooting the gun yet. I'll post the results when I get the job done and figure out the loads it likes. I agree that Brad did a great job building the gun.

I'd expect the gun to do well with prb; and of course shot.  It's certainly attractive.
