found these on  a facebook page dedicated to traditional muzzleloading , thinking of building one , that is the simplest lock I`ve ever seen ! and I`ve been thinking of trying to build a matchlock for a while now !

My tastes tend to never go all the way back to the historic inventions of most things.

I can appreciate the matchlock without having to have one. Mainly because having a glowing rope that needs to stay glowing while you are articulating (bumbling) around with the stuff that blows up!

Like old cars, the earlier ones are interesting but when the model A came along, it struck my high note!

The very same feeling for the mighty FLINTLOCK!

Hanshi

I know I'd love to have a matchlock.  If all the stuff comes together for a build, I'll probably go for it.  It won't be a thing of beauty  (more like a wart) but if it'll work, I'll be satisfied.
Young guys should hang out with old guys; old guys know stuff.
