Rondy season about on us - anybody created new camp food?  Found a goodie - brine chicken breast for a while  rinse, pat dry, sprinkle with liquid smoke, wrap in bacon ,secure with toothpick and bake  (dutch oven should work fine)  May want to cut breast into smaller strips depends on how scrawny the old bird was,  good cold to if any left.

Take slices of bread and trim crust, roll out, place slice of cheese, then roll of string cheese, roll up in 2 slices of bacon butted together, toothpick and fry till bacon done and cheese OOZIN out. saw this today and a definate try it. anything with bacon has to be good!

OK guys, know there are some great cooks out there, come on and share   Please

For something different to drink in the morning, get a small handful of green pine needles, chop into small pieces, put in a cup and fill with hot water. let steep until the needles sink to the bottom of the cup.  Enjoy.  Has more than 4 times the vitamin C as orange juice.

It is a traditional way to avoid scurvey since there wasnt much else around that would do that.

I once tried tapping a pine tree during the early spring sap run.

Figured by doing so, I'd have thick syrup without going to all the trouble of cooking it!

Stuff was better suited as a glue than anything made for the palate!

I'll never get those pancakes to come apart  :qz:

Gilligan managed to make syrup-glue out there on the island.

Good information, flintboomer, reminds me that elderberries were also used as  medicine by Native Americans. It was an excellent source of vitamin C and tasted a lot better than pine needle tea. I used to make Elderberry wine not too long ago.
