I have all kinds of flint or maybe chert on my place that sparks real good. I think it would make good flints but I'm not sure. I'm unable to knap it myself due to my hands being ganky fom carpal tunnel and arthritis. I'm wondering if anyonre here does some knapping and mayne we could work a trade of raw flint for flints for my guns. I will pick up some and post pics over the weekend of what I have. I am in Eartern Middle TN on the Cumberland Plateau if any of you rockhounds know what is more prevalant in my area.

That is something many of us here have been looking for for a long time..a supply of raw flint to work with..I know we have some knappers here and I would like to try myself when you have an excess..my first rock lock was installed last year and sometimes gets hungry..

How big are those pieces?  I'm guessing 6- 7 inches in diameter?   If it sparks good you might have a good secondary income there!

Hard to figure size but if that last round one with the worn edges is about 2-3 inches across it is a hammerstone used to dress down a large flake or spall.

man.. that last piece is impressive!.... Looks like it dwarfs those  sunglasses that are beside it. I'm not aware of any impact tools ( hammers, celts axes ect..) made from flint. However it does look worn and rounded.. for sure curious.

I'd love to get a piece or two for my own use, not a knapper myself, but if you'll pm me and let me know how much I'll be happy to send you the funds. Thanks
