I got to visit the fort back the last weekend June when they re-enact the reading of the Declaration of independence. I have a personal connection to the fort as my 6th GGF James Robertson helped found and defend it. It was strange knowing he fought and struggled there. I will be going back next spring as they re-enact the seige the weekend after Martin's station. They have an excellent museum and slideshow.

Nice Pictures thanks!
The neat thing is I have a 6th GGF (William Blevins)that Signed the Watauga purchase and was a member of the Watauga Association .
As far as the Declaration of independence it took the rest of the country 4 more years to do what the Wataugans did in
1772....

James Robertson, You might enjoy this link!

Family tradition is it was Elisha Wallen and William Blevins that found James Robertson wondering in the wilderness....
