I've received some over powder an over shot card wads today from track of the wolf but have a quick question, do they need to be lubed at all, an if so what do you use ?
Thanks!

Papa

Mongo,
Your answer depends on what you are referring to, wads and cards are two different animals. If you are referring to the 1/2" cushion over powder wads, yes, they should be lubed. I use vegetable or olive oil on mine, when I use them. Over powder and over shot cards are different and do not get lubed. They should fit tightly and may need to be creased of put into the muzzle vertically. Not to worry, the ram rod will straighten them out. Due to the tight fit they may follow the rod back up the barrel due to the air trapped under them. To prevent this you can either drill a "small" hole through the center of them or cut a "small" notch in the edge by using the muzzle of your gun. I get much better patterns when I do not use the cushion wads.

Make sure to use the Virgin olive oil,,others have salt in them, don't have to tell you what salt will do to a barrel :blech:

I use 2 nitro cards, one dry over the powder & one dampened in my mouth just before ramming down the barrel. It has worked for me for 25 plus years.

I ordered a bag of over powder wads, thick gray fiber, an a bag of over shot cards, white thin cards, I soaked the over powder wads in veggy oil last night , going to try an get out this afternoon an see how it shoots an maybe some squirrels out running around as it starts to warm up a little, 4 degrees right now so not going anywhere for a little bit!

Haven't had all that great a luck with the 1/2" thick wads, seem to help blow holes in my patterns.  Been using 2 1/8" hard cards over charge & 1 about 1/16" over shot.  Works for me.  32, 24, 28 16 & 10 bores around here....Tom

The over powder wads I got are gray in color an about 1/8" thick, the over shoot wads are thin white cardstock, came in a bag of one thousand each, should last awhile, I was just planning on using one of each in the gun, haven't had a chance to go shoot yet, still in single digits an just don't feel like getting out to play in it.

Papa

Mongo,
When you do get out, I would use 1 over  powder and 2 over shot.
