I have a Lyman Trade 50 that I am going to refinish. The stock and brass is way too shiny for my taste. I plan on stripping the stock, slimming it down since it is a chunk, and giving it several coats of bol and a light coat of tung. What I am not sure of is the brass! I know I could let it naturally age but I want to speed up the process. So what is a good way to do it?

Brass black from TOW will work, as will Liver of sulfer. Don't do the sulfer thing in the house unless you have a MEGA exhaust fan! :-&

Cold blue will do it or rub some black powder fouling on it, either will dull it quickly.  Hank

Egg whites or egg yolks, can't remember which. Turn it nice and brown right now.

I suspend mine in a large coffee can over an inch or so of household ammonia in the bottom of the can.  Put the lid on and in the morning you have dull aged brass.
