Poking around this site got me to thinking about a do it all type knife. Well at least a do most of it knife, I guess a fellow may need a big and little knife in reality. Years ago folks may have only had one knife. It could have just been a butcher knife from the kitchen that would do about any outdoor task required. Today there is a multimillion dollar industry geared toward high dollar knives for wilderness survival. Folks made due way back when and I don't figure it was easier than today. So what's your idea of a good knife to live off the land with? It can be one or more than one. I have carried several and just can't find the right one that is a good do it all one. For a small knife I settled on a mora knife. But the big one gets changed out all the time.

Before it burned in the fire I had a Hudson Bay camp knife that pretty much filled most of my needs.

My goto knife is an old Green River Butcher knife that has been in my family for years... I can use it for skinning, scalping ( pnic ), cutting and filleting (not pretty but clean).... of course I always carry my dad's old hunting knife in my mocc's so I actually have 2.....

My everything knife is 5" blade butcher pattern that is 1"long wide made from an old mower blade. It is pinned with 5the copper pins and a maple handle. Used this knife for just about everything over the last few years from splitting kindling to pealing taters to even field dressing seer and bunnies and then butchering chores as well.

That seer must have been a tough one to get - most seers I have read about were able to live long and productive lives by being able to foretell when they would be in danger....  'SNTY"   cuch   bunkr
