I have this one listed on gunBroker with a starting bid of $275, with $20 additional shipping. Any member here can speak for it, assuming no bids placed, at a price of $285, shipped to your door.

The rifle is built around a used 27 1/2" x 1" CVA Hawken barrel, .50 caliber with 1-48" twist. The bore is good and useable but far from perfect. Sights are fixed. The lock is a CVA on a modified plate, tripped by a single trigger. The steel hardware is fire-blued, the barrel and underrib are cold-blued, and the walnut stock has been finished with tung oil. Length of pull is 13 1/2", about right for the average-sized adult who somehow didn't make it to what the makers of factory rifles consider a "normal" height of six-plus feet. Everything about this gun is plain and solid -- no frills, nothing fancy in any way, just a rifle that will hang in there with you, out hunting or just casual shooting.

Deer season is in three months, this gun is ready, my pre-Lancaster flinter isn't and won't be. Plus being a (roughly) .48 caliber the flinter won't be one I can just take out with a box of balls and work up an accurate load for -- it'll probably take some fiddlin' and figurin'. No time. Plus, this little rifle fits me and feels right. It's like a stray dog you might pick up and find you like so much you just have to keep it.

Besides, this is a LATE Lancaster or at least eastern Pennsylvania, and I've never made any bones about liking these percussion trade rifles just as well as their flintlock great-granddaddies.... blah

Well, you gonna pull them pistols or whistle Dixie?

Well, that and the fact that so far no one has dared come close enough to kick me out. Of course that may be the smell as much as how fearsome I look....
