Found another gem .............of a piece of wood

.........under a nearly black walnut stain.
This is a T/C Hawken that I decided to whittle down a little. I like to do something a little different with each one, mostly because I can't do anything consistantly  .

  It was a flintlock club with a very dark walnut stain. It started out as a kit that was smoothed just enough to be functional, stained, used for one season in the 70's and cleaned well and put away in a gun closet. As I started to smooth it up after taking off some bulk, the figure really started to show. I tried a new style of cheek similar to the one that Mongrel used on my New England rifle.

At this point it has only 1 coat of tung oil.
