If I hung it in a tree here there would not be anything left of it...

and I was kidding I won't get one here - law says if I kill one I have to give it to them for some research project....

It took me a bit to remember what it is about armadillos, but here it is. 20% of armadillos(at least in Texas, and perhaps
elsewhere) carry leprosy. While this is now treatable, I don't think you want to chance it.
Also, even though armadillos have 3 or 4 young each year, they ALL come from just one egg.
Either one of these could be the reason for the research.

Bulldog lady

They are dirty!! critters, disease and the like, beside being plumb destructive!!  Wonder what it would sound like inside a shell if it hailed [hmm]  Think best stay with the felt or a pelt one,

Charlie

My experience with Armodillo shells is that they are made up of lots of small pieces.  you will have to glue the pieces onto some fabric or leather for your hat.  lots of better things (in my opinion) to do with Armodillos.

For example, find a fresh road kill, freeze it and UPS it to a friend in another State where the don't have any, say like during the hottest week of Summer.  It's guaranteed to get a few laughs.
Especially after it's been in a hot UPS truck for a week.
