Used to be many of the old presses around , not any more. I bought one just a mite smaller then yours when I was in S.D. visiting my daughter and her family about 6 years ago. My son-in-law sand blasted it and it looks new. Keep your eye peeled for the old tapered shank bits and a jacob chuck adapter. If you don,t need them I,ll buy them off you.  If you,ve already used one I don,t have to tell you what a great tool they are.  Of corse you can always stick it out on the lawn and plant flowers around it.  [hmm]

You would be amazed at some the prices I have come across at some of the auctions I have been to this year. i saw a 75 lb anvil with the horn broken off bring $450, A drill pres about half the size as the one in the pictures above, the last bid I heard as I walked away was $1150 and tongs that brought $40 a piece.
To a 5 gal. bucket of tongs that sold for $1.50.[I got there about 3 min late].
I bought another drill press about 2/3 the size of one the pictrued for $7.50. traded it to monkeywright this morning for some welding work.
the drill press in the picture I gave $75.
I have yet to see any of the tapered shank bits at any of the auctions I have been to, but I will keep my eyes open for you.

That was a good price for that press. You don,t find much in the line of old machine shop equipment out this way. I suspect its because the ranches  were/are so big and the population so small.
Going to the local auctions was somthing the whole family looked forward to most every week. The kids used to watch the box lots for goodies and get real mad when someone else out bid us. Also the livestock auctions were fun, had to keep close tabs on the kids or we might wind up bringing home a broken down mule the kids felt sorry for.
Thanks for keeping your eye out for bits etc. I,ve done some family history research around Reno co. I have a cousin buried in the Partrige cemetary. The folks in Hutchison at the library and historical sociiity were extremely helpfull.
