There you go!  I snagged one off of the Goodwill auction sight for $12 but then you add the cost of shipping, handling fee and cleaning, wel, it still was a good deal but you got me beat by a mile.

What color did you get William? Was it the one you last posted?

It was the off white with red, yellow, blue and black stripes, I think that is the one that Bulldog Lady used for my dad's capote.  I've actually paid more for the JC Penny "Golden Dawn" blankets that look exactly like the HBC examples, which IMO are a bit nicer.  If color and brand isn't a concern you can find 100% wool blankets on Goodwill, E-bay or Craig's list for under $20 all the time.  Fairbo, JC Penny, Witney, even Glacier all make great blankets and are equal to Hudson Bay Company.

You've just got to keep your eyes open and you will find a good deal.  If it's just for your bed roll then as long as it's a good wool blanket then color doesn't really matter, a tartan wool blanket is just as warm as a candy stripped one.  If you don't care who made it but the color is right then you can find HBC lookalikes for cheap too, just decide what is the max you're willing to pay and put that in as your top bid.  If it goes past that then do another search, you'll eventually get the one you want.  Also, the ones with minor stains or slight teares get overlooked by those folks that will pay too much for a nice blanket, so those can be real bargains too, and if you are cutting it up anyway then it's not nearly as painful.  The most of ever paid for a wool blanket was $40 plus shipping, and for me it was still a good deal.  For some it's not, but that is per individuals themselves to decide how much is too much.  Once you wrap a well made wool blanket around yourself it becomes apparent that science and chemistry is still a long way from manufacturing a suitable replacement for wool.   You do need to be careful that it is 100% virgin wool no matter the age.  Reprocessed wool is itchy and scissors will tear it rather than cut the material plus the stitching doesn't stay in place very well and will often start to tear through leaving seams open and airy.
